Day 1 :

Nairobi / Nanyuki – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

Morning: Depart Nairobi early (approx. 4 hrs) and drive to Nanyuki town at the base of Mt. Kenya. Stop for breakfast/snacks and a short briefing on the trek.
Midday: Transfer to Sirimon Gate (2,600m), where the hike begins. Walk through montane forests and bamboo zones, with chances to spot wildlife such as colobus monkeys, bushbucks, and various bird species.
Afternoon: Trek about 9 km (3–4 hrs) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m). The trail gradually ascends with sweeping views of the valleys below.
Evening: Arrive at the camp, settle in, and enjoy dinner as you acclimatize to the mountain climate.

Overnight: Old Moses Camp

Day 2 :

Old Moses – Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)

Morning: After an early breakfast, begin the hike across the Moorland Zone. Trek through spectacular landscapes, including the Mackinder Valley, with its giant lobelias and senecios (unique high-altitude plants).
Midday: Picnic lunch along the trail, with views of rugged cliffs and ridges.
Afternoon: Continue trekking for 14 km (6–7 hrs) to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m), nestled at the foot of the towering peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Point Lenana.
Evening: Rest, enjoy a hot meal, and prepare for the summit attempt the next morning.

Overnight: Shipton’s Camp

Day 3 :

Summit Attempt (Point Lenana 4,985m) – Descend to Nairobi

Early Morning: Wake up around 2:30 am for a pre-dawn summit push. Hike under the stars, reaching Point Lenana (4,985m) at sunrise—the third-highest peak of Mount Kenya. Enjoy breathtaking views stretching as far as Mt. Kilimanjaro on clear days.
Morning: Descend back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast and a brief rest.
Late Morning / Afternoon: Continue descending via Sirimon route back to Sirimon Gate (approx. 6–7 hrs hike).
Evening: Transfer back to Nairobi, arriving by late evening.

How fit do I need to be to do this hike?
